A radically restructured global economy has made organizations leverage the skill sets distributed globally and yet virtually integrate the overall capacity .In the pursuit of becoming the best in the world, global businesses have expanded their sourcing and innovation footprint throughout the world through Global In-house Centres (GICs).

The journey of GICs started in India in early 1980s and the story of the growth of GICs in India is a fascinating one.  India is today a home to over 700+ GICs from diverse verticals and diverse application areas.  Over a period of time, the GICs in India have evolved from set and Ramp up phase to impact the business of the global corporations and provide Value beyond cost such as providing cross BU integration in addition, glocalizing the Product strategy etc. while the GIC model have been very successful, it is the time to answer the question “what next”?

The GICs today are challenged to address the dimensions of the business impact it could create for the global corporation. This in turn calls for building capabilities wrt middle level leadership pipeline, building a global network design of work force that allows collaboration amongst other GIC centers across the globe, virtual enablement of Talent, building an Innovation framework for Product engineering, Cost competitiveness of various geographies including talent availability.

To further discuss, debate and strategize on the growth path ahead, GIC forum of NASSCOM in the Western region is hosting its 4th edition GIC Conclave on April 15th and 16th 2014 at Hotel Hyatt Regency at Pune with the theme of “Onward and Beyond- Delivering Excellence”. The conclave will provide a platform for the GICs to network, share thought leadership on the subject and collectively find solutions to the emerging strategic challenges faced by them. The day-long conference on 16th April will also serve as a learning platform to share best practices, address challenges facing the sector, highlight success stories and discuss new business models.
